Shimla : (Himachal Pradesh) -
|
Mashobra
/ Naldehra (6000-7000 ft
asl) - This is first point
on the Shimla - Mandi back
route at 15 kms from Shimla.
Naldehra is an orchard
retreat another 10 kms
further down the road.
Mashobra offers valley
views, Naldehra has a Golf
course.
Mashobra
Resort and Spa is the
best option at Mashobra and
is good for corporates along
with Koti
Resort, a few kilometers
down the road.
Chalets
at Naldehra is one for
honeymooners with Swiss
chalet like character, No
TVs and a heated indoor
pool. For budget travellers,
Golf
Glade, HP Tourism hotel
is good.
If
idea is to get a stay with
self-catering cottage /
apartment option for a
family then Marigold
cottages is a good idea.
Just about 5 kms from where
Shimla ends, this is an
excellent mid-segment option
especially if one has to
stay for a little longer.

Kufri
- Shilon Bagh (6500-7500 ft
asl) - Just a little
before the road takes detour
for Mashobra, there is one
road that turns towards
Kufri, Contrary to what's
typically perceived, Wildflower
Hall, a high end Oberoi
Heritage and Mountain Resort
lies on this route and not
in Mashobra. The
resort is centrally heated,
indoor pool and a place
where you pamper yourself
and so favorite with high
end honeymooners and as a
spa getaway.
10
kms up the road is Kufri is
what made this area famous
with commoners. Kufri
Resort, one of the first
to come up in the area and
promote Kufri as a
destination. Kufri is one
place where it snows the
maximum and therefore snow
stays on till March and
where guests from Shimla
come for fun skiing in
Winter. Shilon
Resort is a spread out
resort and have good views, Toshali
Royal View is more of a
corporate resort and good
for groups. This road
eventually leads to Chail
which is another 20 kms from
Shilon Bagh.
|
|
|
Fagu
(8000 ft asl) - A small
further detour from Mashobra
- Kufri route is actually
the beginning of the
Hindustan Tibet Road. Fagu
is the first point on this
route at 10 kms down the
road and one of the highest
points in the area. Snow
King Retreat is a good
mid-segment option stay in
the area.
|
|
|
Chail
(6500 ft asl) - This can
be directly accessed from
Chandigarh (120 kms) or via
Shimla (50 kms) and famous
for its Chail
Palace, an HP tourism
Heritage Hotel and now for
high end resort of Tarikas
Jungal Resort. Tarikas
became known for its unique
Greenhouse type
accommodations, which
comprise just one of the
several categories of
cottage type accommodations
it provides. Tarikas is one
of the best getaway resorts
in North India and excellent
for a corporate getaway.
Jungle
Livinn Camps and Retreat
is the camping option and
popular for corporate
getaways.
