GUJ/16 - Krishna Pilgrimage - Ex-Ahmedabad

Highlight - This is a pilgrimage Itinerary to visit renowned Krishna Pilgrimage Centres ex-Ahmedabad i.e. Dakor (Ranchhodraiji temple), Shamlaji Temple and Nathdwara (Shrinathji)

Recommended Itinerary (This is an indicative itinerary, Sequence of the activities may vary and depend on prevailing weather condition and guest preferences)

• Day 1 - Arrive at Ahmedabad. Proceed to Dakor (80 kms) in the late afternoon / evening for the Darshan (Open from 6 AM-12 noon and 4 PM - 7 PM daily). Return to Ahmedabad.

• Day 2 - Proceed early to Nathdwara (300 kms) via Shamlaji (150 kms). Spend the night either in Nathdwara or Udaipur (42 kms before Nathdwara).

• Day 3 - Proceed back to Ahmedabad. 

Extension

• Dwarka is also a known Pilgrim centre at other end of Gujarat and about 400+ kms from Ahmedabad. Given two days time, Dwarka can be visited. If guests are able to take overnight train from ahmedabad on day 3 then they can reach Dwarka on day 4 for the Darshan.  

Temple Significance

• Dakor - The temple was built in 1772 A.D. and was presented by the Gaekwad of Baroda. Its a popular pilgrimage centre for Krishna devotees.

• Shamlaji - This is one of the rare temples of Lord Krishna in which cow idols are also worshipped depicting his childhood as a cowherd. For the Vaishnavites Shamlaji is one of the hundred and fifty four most important places of pilgrimage in India.

• Nathdwara - It enshrines Shrinathji - a deity of Krishna which was originally enshrined at Govardhana in Vrindavan. Krishna in his form of Sri Nathji is also worshipped throughout India by followers of Bhakti Yoga and the Vaishnava traditions, especially within Gujarat and considered one of the most significant Krishna Pilgrimage centres. Indicative Temple Timings - Mangala - 6.00 AM : Shringar -   7.15 AM : Gwal - 9.15 AM : Rajbhog - 11.30 AM : Uthapan - 3.30 PM : Bhog - 4.15 PM : Aarti - 5.00 PM : Shyan - 6.30 PM

Access - Ahmedabad is connected to all major cities in India by Train and Air.

Seasonality - Can be visited anytime of the year.
