Himachal Pradesh - Destination Information - Manali

 

Manali (7000 ft asl) - It is a major hill station and a preferred destination for Ex-Chandigarh weekend Getaway, Honeymooners,  adventure lovers.

Kullu-Manali as a lot of old-timers refer to Manali. Kullu and Manali are 40 kms apart. Kullu is where locals stay and is located at a lower height from 4000 ft to 5000 ft and Manali is where tourist resorts are located at a height ranging from 6000-7000 ft. Kullu to Manali is a straight road which runs parallel to the Beas River and a lot of Apple Orchards for which Kullu Valley is famous for.

Solang Valley (15 kms ahead of Manali) here is a prime base for adventure activities such as Skiing (winter), Trekking, Heli skiing, Para Gliding etc. White Water Rafting is also conducted downstream on River beas and a popular activity in summer, 

Manali is base point for the legendary Manali-Leh Route and considered ultimate driving holiday and adventurous route which is extremely picturesque and scenic.

Seasonality - April-June, Mid-Sept-Oct is the best season to visit Manali. Leh Travellers arrive in June and use Manali as transit destination for accessing the legendary Manali - Leh road journey. Winter its extremely cold and one can expect a snowfall anytime during Jan-March period.
