Himachal Pradesh - Destination Information - Narkanda / Thanedar
 

Narkanda (8500 ft asl) / Thanedar (7500 ft asl)  - Narkanda lies in the Hindustan Tibet Road (NH-22) at 62 kms from Shimla. This is an excellent transit point for guests returning from or going into Sangla.

Thanedar a few kilometers off NH-22 is an apple orchard retreat. Guests here enjoy walks, treks and generally enjoy good views. Good Himalayan views can be seen in winter (Oct-March) and it does snow in Jan-Feb period. 

For off-beat honeymooners this is an all-season destination where one can enjoy a bit of wooded walks, a bit of relaxed nature centric stay.

Typical Stay - 1 night if in transit and 2 to 4 nights if idea is to do a bit of walking / trekking around the area .  

 

Seasonality - Jan-Feb is when you can get a bit of snow. May - July is when orchard start to bloom. End-June / July is when you can enjoy local produce (Litchi, Apple, Plum etc.).  

Access - Chandigarh (180 kms), Shimla (62 kms), Sangla (150 kms)
