Kargil. Highway is typically open for traffic from June to November. Kargil is located 204 km from
Srinagar.
Kargil
lies near the LoC (Line of control) with Pakistan and Kargil came into
prominence in 1999 when Pakistan waged a shadow war across the border into
Kargil and the conflict generally came to be known later as the "Kargil
war".
