Rail: Regular train services connect Birbhum District with other important towns and cities in the State. Most popular trains from Kolkata to Bolpur are Shantiniketan Express, Intercity Express and Ganadevata Express
Road: A good network of national highways connect Bolpur with other important town and cities in the State. By taxi/car from Kolkata the journey can be made in 3-3.5 hrs.

Jiraan is an ex-Kolkata getaway and can be visited all round the year.
