- Nanded
is a major Sikh pilgrimage centre and home to Sach Khand Huzur Sahib Gurdwara,
the place where Guru Govind Singh's
ashes were buried. Some of the sacred relics of Guru Gobind Singh are also preserved
here. This is also one of the Five Takhts of Sikhism and therefore most
important from pilgrimage perspective.  Sach Khand Huzur Sahib
Gurdwara Nanded
is also base point to visit Aundha Nagnath Shiva Temple (64 kms), believed to
one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlinga temples
(many believe Nageshwar Temple near Dwarka is a
Jyotirlinga instead). Nagnath is one of the most significant Shiva temples
in Maharashtra. Mahurgarh
near Nanded is home to Renuka temple, which is considered one of the Shakti
Peetha. Mahurgarh has many other temples as well. Mahur is
best approached ex-Nanded (120 kms one way - day visit recommended) or by
train via Kinwat. Nanded
is typically visited as a part of Pilgrimage getaway ex-Pune (480 kms) or
Mumbai (650 kms). Buses and trains are available from Mumbai. Nanded is also
visited as a part of Maharashtra Jyotirlinga
