Shekhavati region in Rajasthan is known for intricately painted havelis of the erstwhile business community of Rajasthan and has the largest concentration of Frescos in the world, Mandawa, Nawalgarh, Surajgarh, Alsisar, Mukundgarh, Pachar are different points of the same region. 

While Mandawa and Alsisar has more of a old Rajasthani village like atmosphere, Mukundgarh and Dundlod are forts and Nawalgarh is more open but has more havelis on display. 

Surajgarh is a pure ex-Delhi weekend getaway for its proximity to Delhi. Bagar is away from everything and an idyllic relaxing retreat

Shekhavati region is an excellent heritage getaway ex-Delhi / Jaipur where guests can explore rural Rajasthani character of the area while enjoying best of hospitality.

This is also a stopover on the Delhi-Jaisalmer Route.

Typical Stay - 1 or 2 nights.  

Seasonality : Oct-Mar (Winter). Aug-Sept is when area is green and you get bargains from hotels.

Access : Shekhavati is accessed via Delhi or Jaipur. Surajgarh is closest from Delhi and Pachar is closest from Jaipur. Nawalgarh (175 kms) is also a popular option for guest arriving from Jaipur. There is a train service that runs in the area but caters mainly to the local movement and not recommended for tourists.

   
Types of Accommodation and their locations within Shekhavati

Surajgarh - This is the first point when you reach from Delhi (175 kms), therefore an ideal getaway location ex-Delhi.

Bagar -  This is a point you pass while coming from Delhi before you reach Jhunjhunu. Ideal for guests having a longer and relaxed stay in Shekhavati or ones who are just transiting enroute to Bikaner.

Nawalgarh -  This is where a lot of frescoed havelis are situated and a good central location in Shekhavati for guests. This is also home for Horse safaris in Shekhavati area.

Alsisar - Alsisar is one on the other side of the Jhunjhunu and more visited by groups and guests wanting good getaway experiences. Backdrop is rural and stays are exclusive. 

Mandawa - Mandawa is one of the most celebrated Shekhavati stays for the profound rural feel it gives. Mandawa is also the one who made Shekhavati famous. Preferred by Inbound guests.

Pachar - Situated closer to Jaipur (85 kms) and a heritage getaway and an ideal stop for visiting nearby Khatushyamji temple.
