Route - 7-8 nights - Darjeeling - Pelling - Gangtok - Kalimpong

Highlight - This itinerary looks to cover the areas popularly visited in the East India which are Darjeeling, Pelling, Gangtok and Kalimpong and in a most -likely time frame which around 8 days which allows a relaxed itinerary as well as a good mix of sightseeing options.  

Itinerary

• Day 1 - Arrive in Morning at New Jalpaiguri / Bagdogra and proceed to Darjeeling (90 kms) - 3 hours.  Proceed for local sightseeing in the afternoon. Ghoom Gompa (10 kms), Museum, Zoological Park, Botanical Gardens 

• Day 2 - Proceed to Tiger hill (View Point to be visited for Sunrise) in the morning. Visit local markets in the afternoon.

• Day 3 and 4 - Proceed to Pelling after breakfast - 118 kms - (4 hours). Enjoy Hiamlaya views from Pelling. Visit Pemayangatse Monastery, Changay Waterfalls, Dentam Valley and Singshore Bridge in the afternoon. Full day Excursion Option from Pelling : Kecheoropalri Lake, Yuksom and Tashiding Monastery

• Day 5 and 6 - Proceed to Gangtok (132 kms) - While in Gangtok visit Tsangu Lake (full day Excursion), Rumtek Monastery, Nam Nang View Point, Botanical Garden, Local Craft Centre, Flower Show (Seasonal) and Tibetan Market. Morning visit to Tashi View point, Ganesh Tok, Hanuman Tok and Pangthang can also be considered time permitting.

• Day 7 and 8 - Proceed to Kalimpong (79 kms). While in Kalimpong visit Flower Nursuries, Durpin Daar hills (View point and birding point), Jang-Dog-Palrifro-Brang-Gompa. You may also do river rafting in river Teesta (Throughout the year except Monsoon) 

Access - New Jalpaiguri has trains arriving from all over India. There are overnight trains from Kolkata (Howarah) and Direct long distance train from Mumbai(Dadar) and other metros. There are direct flights from Kolkata and Delhi to Bagdogra.  

Heritage Train - New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling - Guests looking to catch the heritage train must arrive from an overnight train (e.g. Kolkata / Howarah) or stay 1 night in Transit in Siliguri before taking the train.
