This tour highlights two quite different, yet equally fascinating areas of
South Africa: The Cape has a dramatic coastline with aqua-marine waters,
with the Cape Winelands being an area world renowned for its beauty and
acclaimed wines. From the Cape it's off to the dense wilderness
of Zululand, with a full day spent in the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve,
where one will be able to view all manner of wildlife and if you are lucky,
Africa's 'Big Five' will come out to dazzle you.
Day 1: Cape
Town
On arrival, transfer to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure
exploring the joys of the 'Mother City'. A perfect opportunity to visit the
V&A Waterfront.
Day 2: Cape of Good Hope (B)
Much of our journey is along the achingly beautiful coastline. We visit Cape
Point, one of the best spots in Cape Town for spotting whales and dolphins. On
our return to the city we drive through the quaint naval village of Simon's
Town.
Day 3: Cape Winelands (B)
We tour the Cape's wine making regions, visiting two well known estates for
wine tasting.
Day 4: Cape Town / Durban (B)
Spend the morning at leisure until your transfer to the airport for your
flight to Durban (onward flight not included). On arrival, transfer to your
hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 5: Durban / St Lucia / Hluhluwe (BD)
We leave Durban by 09h00, arriving at Mtubatuba at 11h30 where we
meet our guide. We change vehicles and transfer to Veyane Zulu Cultural
Village where we will have the opportunity to learn more about the way of
life of the local Zulu people. Following our cultural experience we head
into St Lucia to enjoy a boat cruise on the St Lucia Estuary, part of the
Greater St Lucia Wetland Park - a World Heritage Site. Following the
boat cruise we transfer to our overnight lodge (situated on a small private
reserve) for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve (BD)
We depart early this morning with breakfast packs for a full day game
viewing in an open game viewing vehicle in the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game
Reserve, renowned for its rhino conservation as well as home to the
'Big Five'. We also visit the reserves renowned Centenary Centre
and Museum, that depicts the history of live game capture and trans-location
of game, especially the white rhino that would no doubt be extinct without
the creation of this reserve. We return to our lodge in the late afternoon
before enjoying a boma dinner reminiscing about the day's sightings.
Day 7: Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve / Durban (B)
Another early wake-up for a final game drive within the unique and wonderful
Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve. We return to our lodge in time to check-out
and connect onto the transfer shuttle back to Durban, arriving in the city
at about 16h00 where the tour ends.
