Suggested Itinerary (This is an indicative
itinerary, Sequence of the activities may vary and depend on prevailing weather
condition and guest preferences)
Day
1 : Chennai - Kanchipuram - Arrive
at Chennai and reach Kanchipuram atDistance - 62 kms. Have darshan at
Chitragupta
Temple and Ekambeshwara
Temple. Kanchipuram is also a well known centre of the finest silk sarees
made in the country. Possibly Evening have darshan at Kailasanatha
Temple.
Overnight at Kancheepuram. Day
2 : Kanchipuram - Thiruvanamalai - Chidambaram - From
Kancheepuram travel to Thiruvanamalai (122 kms - 2.5 hours). Visit
Arunachaleshwar temple. Proceed to Chidambaram (170 kms - 4 hours). Chidambaram is one of
the foremost Saivite shrines; the very name Kovil refers to Chidambaram, where
Nataraja is enshrined in the Hall of Consciousness. Have darshan at
Sivakami

3 - Chidambaram - Karikal - Thiruvarur - Kumbakonam / Swamimalai
- Early Darshan at Nataraja

and Proceed to Karikal (60 kms) visit the Sani temple and from here
leave for Kumbakonam (100 kms).
Enroute visit Sri Tyagaraja temple at Thiruvarur (Annual chariot festival held
here in the month of April). Day
4 - Kumbakonam / Swamimalai - This is the heart of Navagraha
temples. There are at least 50 temples that can be visited in the area. Darasuram
temple is also know and most visited. Day
5 - Kumbakonam / Swamimalai
- Thanjavur - Trichy - Pudukottai Kumbakonam / Swamimalai to
Thanjavur (40 kms). Thanjavur is home to the famous Brihadeeswara Temple,
one of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. From Thanjavur to Trichy (55 kms).
Trichy is a city home to Rockford Temple, Jambukaeshwar
Temple. Evening Settle at Pudukottai (65 kms). Day
6 - Puddukkottai - Rameshwaram
- Madurai - Puddukkottai to Rameshwaram is about 160 kms. Visit the
Jyotirlinga Shiva temple here and Proceed to Madurai (160 kms). Stay
overnight at Madurai. Day
7 - Madurai - Thirunelveli - Early visit to Meenakshi
temple at Madurai. From Madurai travel to Kanyakumari. Enroute (150 kms from
Madurai), visit Tirunelveli temple. Overnight at Courtallam (known for
waterfalls) or Turicorin (Port / Beach). There
is an option to visit temples as under: *
Tiruchendur - Subramaniya Swamy Temple. One of
the six "Arupadai Veedu"
* Kalugumalai - Ancient Rockcut Temple. Jain Architechture. 61 Kms.
* Navathirupathi - 9 Temples dedicated to Vishnu within a radius of
35 Kms. Day
8 - Tirunelveli - Kanyakumari - Early Departure from Turicorin or
Courtallam to Kanyakumari (150 kms). During the day Visit Vivekananda
Memorial and The Kumari Amman or the Kanyakumari Temple. This is the site
where Swami Vivekananda meditated. Guests may also visit Suchindram Temple
(13 kms). Make sure you are by the sea for the evening sunset and next day
Sunrise. Day
9 : Take train or flight (Trivandrum - 100 kms) for onward Journey
. Seasonality
- Oct-March is the best time weatherwise. However guests do visit this
circuit all around the year. Access
- Chennai (Gets daily flights from all major destinations of India
and South East Asian Countries). Chennai is a major railhead on the Southern Rail
Route. Trivandrum has flight / Train connectivity to major cities in India.
Trivandrum is an International Airport getting flights from select
