K Gudi - More than 270 species of birds exist here, including the scarlet minivet, velvet-fronted nuthatch, gold-fronted chloropsis, lorikeet, blossom-headed parakeet, heart-spotted woodpecker and malabar whistling thrush among numerous others. While in K Gudi stay at BR Hills.

Nagarahole - Nagarhole is the best managed parks in india and offers great wildlife and birding sighting opportunities. Nagarahole has a wide spectrum of birds such as Malabar Pied Hornbill, Green Imperial Pigeon, Spot-bellied Eagle Owl and White-bellied Woodpecker. While in Nagarhole stay at Cicada or Kabini River Lodge

Mudumalai and Masinagudi - This area of the Nilgiris is home to over 320 species of birds, both migratory as well as sedentary. The sholas and jungles provide perfect habitat for them all year round. While in Masinagudi stay at Jungle Retreat or Jungle Hut.

Coonoor - Coonoor area in Nilgiris lies about 25 - 45 kms from Ooty and there are hills, plantation estates and forests all around. The area boasts of a large variety of species like cormorants, pipits, thrushes, parakeets, skylarks, Nilgiri verditer, etc  Kurumba Village is one of the stay options here which forms an excellent base point for birding in the area.

Valparai / Topslip - This is an area 70 kms uphill from Coimbatore and surrounded by plantation estates. This is excellent base point to access the Annamalai Sanctuary / Top Slip area. The park is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna typical of the South Western Ghats. There are over 2000 species plants of which about 400 species are of prime medicinal value. Over 250 species of birds have been identified in the Park. Banyan Tree Homestay or Stanmore Bungalow are places to stay. 

Thattekad - Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary around the Periyar River and a lake that gives a great opportunity for Birders. Birders can go bamboo rafting for the whole day deep into the lake for sighting.  While in Thattekad you may stay at Periyar River Lodge or Hornbill Camp

Kumaramom - Kumarakom Bird sactuary is a small piece of land on the Vembanad lake that attracts a lot of birds. Ideal for relaxation and for birders. Waterscapes as a part of the Bird Sanctuary is a the only recommended option for birders.

Periyar - About 200+ species of birds are found at Periyar. Due to the presence of large water bodies Periyar National Park is birdwatcher's delight. While in Periyar Stay at Aranya Niwas or Lake Palace

Dindigul - With more than 160 reported just around the lake, Cardamom House is really a splendid place for those who enjoy watching birds. It is indeed a Not to Miss destination for serious and also for the not so serious Bird-watchers

Yercaud - This is a hill station 235 kms South of Bangalore known for pleasant weather all through the year and Plantations. Though its not yet a known birding destination, its certainly a good stopver for birders enroute to Bangalore. While in Yercaud stay in Grange Resort.
